Golden Plains Insurance (GPI) of Lamar and Walsh, CO were excited to participate in a Farmers Alliance program to help support small local businesses. The Farmers Alliance stated mission is “Insuring & Protecting Futures in Rural Communities”. They genuinely care about their agents and the communities where they live and work. Through their program, GPI was able to award a check for $50 to Rick Ross of Lamar Theater in Lamar and to Selena Arana of Selena's Salon of Walsh. Farmers Alliance has worked with over 100 other agencies in this giving endeavor.

Our Lamar office worked with Rick Ross of Lamar Theater. The theater had been closed for quite some time and has only been able to sell a few concessions on the weekends to get by. With support from Farmers Alliance GPI was able to purchase some movie passes from Rick to help with some of the ticket sales they have been unable to make over these past many weeks.

In Walsh, we worked with Selena Arana, owner/operator of Selena’s Salon. Twenty-three-year-old Selena Arana became owner/operator of her salon in 2017 shortly after graduating cosmetology school. Selena's Salon is the only salon in this small rural town. The salon’s livelihood and success are extremely important to its patrons and the entire community. It is great to see the open sign displayed again after the temporary closure due to Covid-19. Selena plans to use the money for patrons that need her services but cannot afford them at this time.
